Well, it seems Sonam Kapoor has been giving endless fashion lessons to Salman Khan during the shoot of their film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It all started when she complimented Salman on a jacket he wore on set and asked him to match it with colored denims. Apparently, that the advice didn’t stop there and she even volunteered to shop for him the next time he travelled to Dubai. From what it looked like, Salman wasn’t too excited by the idea of someone messing with his wardrobe, given the fact that he usually sticks to his own line of Being Human t-shirts and denims. But Sonam wasn’t deterred and was literally stalking him even when he wasn’t shooting. That’s because she wanted him to send her photos of various things in his wardrobe. Too much!

There was a sparkle party in Bollywood over the weekend and Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor were responsible for it. Kaif attended the L’Oréal Paris Cannes launch event wearing a blush beaded Jenny Packham gown. The new redhead looked stunning in this shimmering dress with earrings from Gehna.

Contrary to popular belief, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are friends. The recent L’Oreal event proved it! The two actresses came to the event and gave out a very friendly vibe for each other. And of course as friends do, the two were engaging in some friendly banter. Katrina pointed out how she is usually looking like she’s “going to bed” as compared to Sonam who is always looking like she’s come from a red carpet event.

This instantly reminded Sonam of an incident that she very jovially shared to joke about Kat’s dressing sense:

I remember once I went to a restaurant and Katrina was there with her mom. It was a VERY fancy restaurant, BTW and she was wearing a very simply t-shirt and jeans, no makeup, her hair was tied just like that AND she was wearing flip-flops! I remember I was wearing a Christian Dior skirt and a crop top and Katrina is like ‘are you coming from an event?’ I was like ‘no, no, I’m coming from home, I just put this on!’ She’s like ‘how long did it take for you’ and I was like ‘5 minutes’ and she’s like ‘it took me 5 minutes too!’

Katrina accepted her usual “underdressed” attitude and said:

It’s a very common occurring between me and Sonam. I see her and ask her ‘are you coming from a red carpet event’ and she goes like ‘no I’m coming from home!’ *laughs*

It’s always a pleasure meeting the fashionista, Sonam Kapoor. I met her again at the L’Oreal event (along with Katrina Kaif) and ended up having another fun interview with her. I also got her to answer some of your Twitter questions!

1) Major fashion dos and don’ts.

One of the major donts’ is never wear something that you’re uncomfortable in. Or don’t wear a pair of shoes that you can’t walk in. It automatically makes the whole beautiful dress look really not nice. And always have one element that says a lot! Maybe your lipstick, a dress or your hair. Too many elements ruin the whole thing.

2) Secret to her amazing skin.

You know, honestly, I would have to say that a lot of it has to do with nutrition. A lot of it also has to do with the products you use. it’s very important to use the right product. Especially with Indian skin – Indians have extremely sensitive skin. It’s about being very vigilant with sunblock, staying hydrated, moisturizing.

3) Her diet…

My nutritionist, Radhika Karle makes sure that I eat every 2 hours. I’m a very poor eater. It’s really funny though but the less you eat, the more you gain weight. The more you eat – the right stuff – it makes you lose weight.

4) Healthy practices are in the genes!

My dad has amazing skin. Thanks to my parents, I have never got a blemish. He doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t drink! Smoking dehydrates you. You know when someone stops smoking, you can immediately see the difference in their skin. He eats right, he drinks water, my mum’s constantly on his case, doing exercise, he takes care of himself.

5) Favourite colours of this season.

Raspberry, orange and lime.

6) The beauty products you can’t leave home without?

8) What’s next in the movies?

Other than the fact that Sonam’s face cut bears a striking similarity to that of Neerja Bhanot, there is also a certain attitude that the actress demonstrates which makes her capable of bringing to screen the heroics of the departed brave-heart. As history knows, Neerja had demonstrated great courage in the midst of a hijack and it was her presence of mind tha ended up saving hundreds of passengers. To enact a role like this, a lady of substance needs to portray it well on screen and Sonam is just the right bet!

Moreover, age is also on Sonam’s side. Neerja was 22 years old when the tragedy that took her life struck. Though Sonam is 29, she looks much younger. There are only a few other actresses in Bollywood who boast of characteristic attributes that one associates with an airhostess or a flight attendant when it comes to physicality, body language and mannerisms. In that perspective, Sonam fits the bill perfectly. As for the acting part, she has managed to prove her credentials over the years and this could very well be a biopic that allows her to get her due in the industry.

Sonam Kapoor is all set to play the legendary role of Neerja Bhanot – the flight attendant for Pan Am, Mumbai who was murdered while saving passengers from terrorists on board the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 on 5th September 1986. Sonam Kapoor attended The Lata Mangeshkar Awards over the weekend in this white and gold lehenga from House Of Kotwara by Meera & Muzzafar Ali. And, I mean, isn’t she stunning? It’s a beautifully crafted, but very simple ethnic outfit. We love the zari work that that House Of Kotwara is famous for. Sometimes, white and gold makes the biggest statement and sister-slash-stylist, Rhea Kapoor definitely knows it. Take a closer look at her hair and makeup.

Makeup artist, Aarti Nayar, gave Sonam smoked out wings and and long lashes that compliment the ethnic look. BBlunt’s style director, Hiral, gave her a traditional bun embellished with a gajra.
